Mikoyan MiG-29
I saw a Mikoyan MiG-29 at the Berlin airshow. These days, they’re old and not considered cutting edge anymore.

I agreed to go to “Sächsische Schweiz” for a hiking trip. “Schweiz” is German for “Switzerland”, so logically, I assumed I was going to Switzerland.
We saw this beautiful waterfall on our hiking trip in Sachsen.
No I haven’t been visiting Oslo recently, but I forgot to post these pictures of the crazy looking statues found in Frogner park in Oslo.
I’m staying in a totally sweet new flat in Berlin. I found out about it from an old acquaintance from my years at Corstorphine school, Caroline van Zyl.
I realised on Saturday that I am officially a fatty! That gut isn’t being poked out in this photo, that’s just what it looks like when I’m standing.
Ze Germans put on a terrific show, including this crazy nutter who decided it was a smart idea to stand on the wing whilst doing a pushover!
In Berlin, hiking means to go for a walk in the “wilderness”. In Berlin, “wilderness” refers to the bushy bits between the buildings.
I experienced hiking Berlin style today. In Berlin, hiking means to go for a walk in the “wilderness”. In Berlin, “wilderness” refers to the bushy bits between the buildings 🙂 We took the train to the outskirts of town, then meandered our way through the suburbs, into some beautiful small parks with lots of bush, […]
Those gods you name, are mere false idols. The real gods will strike down thee with furious vengeance and anger. Thy kingdom come; Thy pasta will be done; as it is at Dominoes. Amen.
In reference to my business being ruined: I had a business which was obliterated by WordPress including it’s functionality in core (it was menus). My plugin became mostly irrelevant overnight, as the implementation in core was much better than I had in my own plugin. I saw that as more of a failing on my […]
Comment by yours truly: I think this will be very fascinating in 40 years time. It will be fascinating to look back on where I currently live, even if it is bulldozed and upgraded in the in the mean time. It could be particularly fascinating to look back on your neighbourhood from when you were […]
Awesome time was had skating at Tempelhof airport in Berlin today 🙂
We had an obstdöner party at Sara’s place 🙂 An obstdöner is a fruit kebab, and they taste amazing!
I have vivid memories from my childhood. One thing I remember most, is having dinner at Cherry Court Lodge where I recall having frogs legs for dinner.
Berliners are very proud that their city is the home of the Doner kebab. Little did I know, that they also do fruit kebabs here.
In Germany, it is extremely rare for shops to take cards. In New Zealand, the shops need to emphasise that they do indeed take cash in case people assume they don’t.
Thanks to Hannah for taking these photos with her flash during our visit to Bärenquell in Berlin.
Some of you may have heard that I bought a new Radio Control aircraft the other day. It came with an onboard video camera and even included an SD card. As far as I was aware, this aircraft was “made in Germany”. My German skills must be worse than I thought, as I can’t understand […]
The after party for WordCamp Praguein the Czech republic, is the only place I have seen food served inside a urinal.
Prague is a beautiful city with amazing architecture. I went there to attend WordCamp Praha 2014 and had a really nice time.
My new apartment has some stunning artwork on the walls. This particular master piece was created by a former tenant and improved upon by my lovely new Russian flatmate 🙂
This feels oddly familiar 😛
I caught some beautiful views of the Prague castle across the Vltava river.
was walking along the street one day, minding my own business. Nek minit I look through a fence and see an elephant!
I learned a new Norwegian word this evening, kebabnorsk. This literally translates to “Kebab Norwegian”, which means the language spoken by people in kebab shops in Norway. I’m pretty sure I’m fluent in kebabnorsk 🙂 Jeg tror at jeg er flytende pä kebabnorsk 🙂
I went on a skiing trip in Nordmarka, just outside of Oslo. It turns out that my skiing skills have not improved much since last year.
I’m just walking along, minding my own business listening to music in Berlin. Nekkminit, I look through a fence and see an elephant. It seems there are interesting things at every turn in Berlin!
I own a pair of Sony headphones which went through the washing machine once. They still work just fine. I wonder if it works with Sony Vaio’s too?
This image of a venus flytrap about to flower really captured my attention today. There’s some truly appealing about it, but I can’t quite pinpoint what.
Me, drinking 7up, whilst working for 10up, at co-up!
Thanks to Harriet for finding another ridiculously addictive thing to keep me from doing things I should be doing 😛 http://geoguessr.com/
Ummm, well, slightly out of place in this post, but I’m sure some East Germans used these for racing at some point 😛
A bunch of WordPress geeks went sledding in Norway. Here is the photographic evidence.
The problem I see with analysing climate science for the masses, is that almost all data presented to the common person is manipulated either for or against climate warming being a problem. Most of the junk I see flowing through my Facebook feed alerting to the horrors of global warming, is nothing more than fear […]
Some more photos from my trip with Michelle and Hannah to Bärehquell brewery.
I visited Bärehquell brewery with my friends Hannah and Michelle. The brewery went out of business in 1994.
I went to the Computerspielemuseum (computer game museum) in Berlin. I got to play Pacman with a giant super sized Atari 2600 controller.
I went for a wander down Karl Marx Allee in Berlin. I found some interesting cold war era features.
The last time I came to Berlin I only saw a small section of the former wall separating East and West Berlin. So I went on a walking tour.
