My poor ice skates

Until my last shoulder dislocation, I was on skates (inline or ice) at least once a week. Since then, my time on skates has been pitiful at best.

I was saddened to discover that after years of sitting idle, the outsoles of my ice skates literally crumbled to pieces in my hands. These skates fitted me like a glove; I’d hoped to keep them forever. But perhaps this is a sign that it’s finally time for an upgrade. They were already an older model when I bought them, and since Nike doesn’t even make ice skates anymore, I can’t just upgrade to the latest model.

By some miracle, they held up for their last skate, and it wasn’t until I was taking them off that I noticed parts of them falling onto the ground. I suspect there were quite a few pieces of them scattered about the Eisstadion Neukölln skating rink.
