Some more photos from my trip with Steffi to Landschaftspark in Duisburg.
Landschaftspark is a park in Duisburg, designed to show off the former industrial nature of the area. I spent a pleasant afternoon there with Steffi.
Paternoster lifts consist of a series of open compartments that move without stopping. You need to jump on very quickly to avoid getting squished!
I had an awesome time visiting my friend Steffi in Duisburg. Lots of yummy Germany beer (and fruit beers) and of course awesome company.
I noticed a ridiculously large number of bullet holes. This church beside it was the place where Martin Luther King Jr had famously presented a sermon.
Apparently this is what people resort to when stuck in Europe with me for a whole month!
After traversing the Rhine, Vicky, Vikas and I headed north to Cologne. We didn’t spend much time there, but the huge Cathedral in the middle of the city sure is an impressive site. Construction started in 1248 and didn’t finish until 1880! It was the tallest man-made structure in the world until 1884. Cologne was […]
Vikas took Vicki and I up the scenic Rhine river. There are Castles everywhere along the banks of the river.
Vickas took Vicki and I to the Hockenheimring in Germany, the home of the German grandprix. There were no cars racing that day, just testing. But it was nice to see (in person) the track I’ve driven around in so many video games.
Ya know how in the movies the cows in Germany have bells on them? Well apparently those crazy Germans actually do attach bells to the poor cows! I have no idea why they do this. Imagine how insane you would go if some dork attached a bell around your neck! Every time you moved you […]
Vikas Aggarwal took Victoria Argyle and I to the Technik Museum Speyer in Germany. They had all sorts of different types of locomotion including trains, planes, automobiles and underwater submarines. We got strapped to the side of a Boeing 747 and taken for a flight. It was quite blustery but I managed to snap the following pic […]
When in the Black Forest, we all went photo crazy with lots of pictures to be taken of the beautiful scenery.
Vikas Aggarwaal took us to the Black Forest in south western Germany. The scenery made it feel like home 🙂 We took a short Gondola ride to the top of a ski field (summer season) and went on a scenic walk through the forest.
Our lab got renovated recently. It doesn’t look anything like this old school chemistry lab we saw at the Heidelberg castle though!
Here are some photos I found kicking around on my hard drive that I’d forgotten to upload to the web.
After our day trip to Karlsruhe, Vicki and I met up with Vikas == (another former labmate of mine) and headed over to Heidelberg. When we arrived, we met up with my old friend Sandra and Vikas’s friend Stephanie. The city is incredibly beautiful. High up on the hilltop is the famous Heidelberg Castle which […]
After galavanting around England, Vicki Argyle and I headed off to Karlsruhe in Germany, where Frederik (my ex-labmate) picked us up from the airport and took us to the “Institut für Anorganische Chemie der Universität Karlsruhe”, which is the inorganic chemistry department of Karlsruhe university. We got to meet Frederik’s lab mates, including Julia who […]
