Thanks to Brianna and Neicey for an awesome trip to Bucharest in Romania 🙂
Thanks to Brianna and Neicey for an awesome trip to Bucharest in Romania 🙂
I recently went to Timisoara in Romania with some friends. Check out the video of the trip. Special thanks to Madhvi for creating awesome pancakes for breakfast every morning 🙂
I went on an exciting coworking adventure to Timisoara in Romania. I recorded the adventure on my trusty GoPro strapped to a dildo.
I’ve always had a fascination with how things worked in the Soviet Union. The massive attempts of economies of scale attempted by the Soviet Union are something rarely seen in the western world. I recently had the privilege of seeing inside an old school stereotypical Soviet era apartment block in Cluj-Napoca. There wasn’t much to […]
I tried my hand at axe throwing whilst at the Râșnov Citadel. Apparently I can neither aim, nor throw very well.
If you are ever in Brasov, Transylvania, I highly recommend taking the free walking tour. Half the people on the tour were Kiwis.
Some more photos from around Bran castle in Translyvania, Romania.
There is a beautiful view from Bran castle across the Transylvanian landscape.
During a walking tour of Brasov, Romania, we stopped at Biserica Neagră (Black Church). It is a christian church, constructed around 1400.
I visited the inside of Bran’s castle. It is a fairly sparse environment, nothing special and certainly not somewhere you would desperately want to live in.
The guidebook I read whilst in Brasov, Romania said that Strada sforii is the skinniest street in Europe, so I went to pay it a visit. I think “street” is a loose term as I have no idea what you would be driving down it and it has a roof. It also turns out it […]
I was warned not to attempt using the Romanian train system. I’m glad I ignored that advice. The train system is actually really pleasant.
I had a beautiful view of the Romanian countryside travelling via train from Cluj-Napoca to Brasov in Transylvania, Romania.
Here are some photos I took of the Carpathian mountains in Transylvania. The area is known for it’s high population of brown bears, chamois, lynxes, werewolves and vampires.
Bran’s castle is the location the Transylvanian locals pimp as the castle of Count Dracula. The actual Dracula castle is Poenari.
I do know shear craziness when I see it. Cutting grass with skythes and tilling the land by hand definitely fits the bill for a new level of craziness.
Brașov is a beautiful little town in Transylvania, Romania. I used the town as a base for exploring the surrounding region and as somewhere to chill out.
Râșnov Citadel is a historic fortress overlooking the Râșnov township in Transylvania, Romania. The locals proudly declared that Hollywood copied their innovative sign idea, but judging by the smirk on their faces I suspect it was somewhat the other way around 😛
I visited Peleș Castle, an incredibly beautiful castle in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania. It is on the route linking Transylvania and Wallachia. Interestingly, it was the first castle to be built with central heating pre-installed. Unfortunately I wasn’t allowed to take photos of the stunning interior, so I only have exterior shots of the […]
Some more photos from the beautiful Transylvanian countryside.
There are a lot of abandoned buildings dotted around the Transylvanian countryside. Combinations of factories, mills, farm houses and empty apartment blocks falling to pieces are a common site whilst travelling through the countryside.
I stayed in Cluj-Napoca for a few days following the WordCamp Transylvania conference. I had a great time in Cluj. It was terrific meeting up with friends.
The Transylvanian countryside is beautiful. They have a terrific mixture of beautiful greenery and rustic charm. I highly recommend checking it out if you ever get the opportunity. They even had some sheep to make me feel like home 🙂
I attended a web development conference called WordCamp Transylvania. I enjoyed my last trip to Romania so much that I decided to head back again this year.
