About the Plugin

WordPress loads a significant amount of JavaScript and CSS for emoji support on every page, even if your site never uses them. Disable Emojis removes all of that overhead in a single, lightweight plugin.

No configuration screens, no database options — just activate and the emoji cruft is gone. Every byte saved is a faster page load for your visitors.

What It Removes

  • wp-emoji-release.min.js: The core emoji script loaded on every page.
  • Inline emoji styles: CSS injected directly into your page head.
  • DNS prefetch for s.w.org: Unnecessary DNS prefetch tags.
  • Emoji CDN references: All external emoji image requests.

Why Use It

If your site doesn't need emoji rendering in older browsers, this plugin trims the fat. It's especially valuable for high-traffic sites where every kilobyte matters, and for developers who prefer to keep their output clean and minimal.

Installation
