København windmills
Denmark has a lot of windmills. They look spectacular around København and you can get a good view of them from the train heading from Malmø in Sweden.

With the first weekend of good weather, I took to the hills around Oslo on my mountain bike. I’m not very good at taking it easy.
I visited Rundetårn in København, Denmark. It is a 7th-century tower which was built as an astronomical observatory.
The 17th of May is the biggest public holiday of the year in Norway. All the Norwegian go crazy! The girls wear striking little outfits called “bunad”.
Harriet and I visited Rosenborg Castle in København, Denmark. Apparently the Danish crown jewels are stored in it.
A crude story for Norwegian class. This hasn’t been proof read and is definitely riddled with errors. No need to correct as we’ll be reviewing this in class 🙂 Vi har ny loven i New Zealand. Vi hadde “Civil Union” før nå. De laget loven for “Civil Union” i 2004. Personer i “Civil Union” ha […]
Harriet and I paid a visit to Frederik’s Church, a spectacular looking church in København, Denmark.
A casual afternoon run with Karl turned into a 17.75 km adventure.
View of the outside of Christiansborg Palace in København, Denmark.
Whilst wandering around København I stumbled across Christiansborg palace. The inside was spectacular looking.
I ran the Sentrumsløpet in Oslo. 10 km in 61.5 mins in 2012 and 53 mins 46 seconds in 2013! There’s a dip in speed during the middle section as I got a really unpleasant cramp. Hopefully I can do even better for 2014 🙂 Here’s the trace from my Nike running watch.
Here are some photos taken from the top of Vor Frelsers Kirke.
Some view of the inside of the Vor Frelsers Kirke on the way to the top of the spire.
Harriet and I saw the strange looking spire of “Vor Frelsers Kirke” in København so decided to take a closer look. It turned out you can walk to the top.
w00p w00p w00p! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 I just had a panicked morning as I realised my old work visa had expired. I’d been looking at the wrong date in my visa when working out when I was going to get booted from Norway. Fast forward a few extremely worried hours, and I managed […]
Ivelina and I headed into town after scoffing down some yummy pizza. Here is Ivelina standing beside a Reindeer statue.
Beautiful image of space, comet, astroid, meteor thingy. http://www.joetek.ca/we-all-need-a-distraction-today/
As weird as it may seem, I’m pretty sure I managed to make this upward trend in load times decrease by reducing the amount of caching on my site(s). I reduced how often Batcache stores pages and the load time plummeted within a few minutes.
Harriet and I headed to Nyhaven, a small port area of København in Denmark with lots of awesome little restaurants and cafes.
They sure do have some interesting fashions in Denmark.
Everyone says that spring in Norway is beautiful. So we decided to celebrate it by having a barbecue by the lake at a balmy -3°. We also discovered that putting a baby disposable barbecue on a wooden bench is not such a good idea, unless of course you want to barbecue your food with the […]
I went for a beer with the lovely Fonda. I ended up drinking beer with 40% alcohol content. I’m going to file this in the “it seemed like a good idea at the time” basket! It tasted something like a cross between tequila and vodka. At no point did I sense a taste of beer […]
Milan and I felt like a couple of eastern European gangsters as we transported my new TV across via the subway 🙂
I stayed at a hytta (cabin) after a skiing trip with Ingvild, Live and Irene. It was an awesome little place with a great view out over a frozen lake.
This is what happened when I ported a couple of SMF forums over to bbPress.
I accidentally stumbled across this screenshot from geek.hellyer.kiwi in 2008.
From the old to the new. I upgraded SlapShot.net.nz this evening from SMF 1.1.14 to the latest bbPress plugin for WordPress. I’d been running an out of date, unpatched, insecure SMF installation for well over a year now. Plus I haven’t been doing any backups of it. By moving it to the bbPress plugin I […]

Some photos showing the beautiful landscape from my recent ski trip.
We started an awesome little fire at the hytta during my ski trip with Live, Ingvild and Irene.
I had my first cross country skiing trip recently. Ingvild, Live, Irene and myself headed to a small hytta (cabin) near Oslo. The weather was great and despite my being a bit slow and having to run down the occasional hill due to my meagre skiing skills, I made it to the end! Big thanks […]
I headed with Boban and Ivelina to the restaurant on Holmenkollen between sledding runs. It’s a great place to warm up between exciting sled rides down Korketrekkeren.
I have a minor problem. The Comment Errors plugin I wrote a while back is broken. I’m not sure why it’s broken, but I suspect it is related to a change in WordPress core, so I’m going to discontinue it until I come up with a better solution. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/comment-errors/ My current plan Remove all the […]
More photos from my trip with Ivelina and Boban to Korketrekkeren for sledding.
I wondered why some of the bread tasted so nasty when I moved to Norway. It turns out it was only half baked! I didn’t realise this was the problem until looking at the side of a packet today and reading “halvstekt” which means “half cooked”!
Some more pictures from my trip to the Rikugi-en gardens.
Some more photos from my trip to the Rikugi-en gardens in Tokyo.
I had to write a 125+ word letter to a friend in Norwegian for my language class. Here is the result … Hei! Jeg håper at du hadde en bra helgen! Jeg gikk til Sognsvann for løpt i helgen. Jeg realisert etter jeg reiste bort fra hjemme at min nøkler var i leiglighet! Jeg sendte […]
I visited the Meija Shrine inner garden. It is a very large traditional Japanese garden in the heart of Tokyo.
I visited the Kakuun-Tei (tea house) in Tokyo. The original building was destroyed during World War 2. The current house is a reconstruction built in 1958.
The Tokyo Tower is an ugly looking beast by day. The hideous orange monstrosity becomes a beautiful golden structure later in the evening.
It is common to see girls dressed in traditional Japanese dresses at the Meija shrine in Tokyo. These nice girls let me take their photo.
Jeg løpt 6.7 km i Oslo snø i dag.
I was awarded a medal at work for sending traffic to our company website. The medal tasted pretty good 🙂
