Visiting the Jewish memorial in Berlin, with Karyn and Melissa.
Visiting the Jewish memorial in Berlin, with Karyn and Melissa.
I came across this very old church whilst walking around Köln in Germany. It is known as Alt St. Alban. It was a church which was destroyed during World War 2 and is now used as a memorial to the victims of war.
My friend Madvhi took a photo of me last night. When I tried to do a selfie, the framed picture on the wall behind me got messed up.
I did the Turmwanderweg, a hike in Brandenburg from Bad Freienwalde to Falkenberg. We had great weather, and a nice bunch of people as always 🙂
Michelle and I visited the Stasi Museum in Lichtenberg, Berlin. The museum is based in the old Stasi head offices.
Photo of me adjusting my camera.
Some photos from a recent hiking trip near Brisetal in Brandenburg.
Out with the “proper” camera and in with the GoPro 🙂 I remember seeing these when they first came out. I was super jealous, as I had attempted to make action cameras out of old camera parts before and the quality was nothing like as good as these fancy new GoPro things. Unfortunately their price […]
For the second year in a row, I have headed to Beelitz just south of Berlin by bike, for the beginning the asparagus (spargell) season.
Co-working at Hermann Schulz with the Coding Amigo’s crew.
Some photos from a recent hiking trip I went on from Schmachtenhagen to Borgsdorf. The photos were taken on my new Mobius C2 action camera.
Some photos from a recent trip to visit the Berlin Dom with Yvette and Michelle.
Here are some photos from a hiking trip I did today from Berlin to Potsdam. The pictures were taken whilst I was testing my new Mobius action camera.
Stretching the heck out of my Achilles tendon before exercise. After a few years of doing this, my Achilles tendon is finally healthy again 🙂
Fun day out at the Science Center Berlin, for an exhibit about human mobility.
The Reichstag in Berlin, the current home of the Bundestag (German parliament). The building was built in 1894.
I went on a beautiful hike from a small place called Erpetal in Brandenburg.
The Berlin Festival of Lights is an annual event in which various monuments are lit up with spectacular light displays.
I organised a hike for the Berlin Hikers meetup group. A ton of people came along 🙂
A big bunch of us headed for a midnight bike ride to Müggelturm, a strange communist era viewing tower on the south eastern edge of Berlin.
We chose the hottest weekend of the year to go on a bike camping trip to Liepnitzsee, a small lake north of Berlin.
I went for a beautiful sunny day of hiking in Grünewald, a small forest within the Berlin city limits. The beautiful sun soon paved way for a beautiful torrential downpour ;
Anna, Hanna, Teresa and myself made a day trip from Berlin to the nearby city of Leipzig.
I went on a cycle tour to Bernau today. We took an awesome route on super smooth roads. The total distance was 110 km, so I definitely feel tired now 🙂
Mo and I headed to Tempelhof to watch the inaugural Formula E grand prix of Berlin.
This is Nikolaikirche in Leipzig, an old church in the city of Leipzig. We passed by it on a walking tour of the city.
Ana and I went on a cycling trip to Grünerwald in Berlin.
Inline skating in Tiergarten. Not the best place to choose, but it was a pleasant day out 🙂
And even more photos from my cycling trip to Beelitz-Heilstätten, the military hospital famous for murders, Nazi’s Hitler and the Soviet army.
A group of us headed by bike to Werder, a small town south of Berlin to the Baumblütenfest (blossom festival) there.
More photos from the beautiful Beelitz-Heilstätten military hospital I visited recently.
Beautiful sunset from my temporary place in Berlin.
The Beelitz-Heilstätten military hospital I went to during a recent cycling trip is a good example of where some common sense is, well, sensible! Most of it is totally safe, but there are some areas which looked horrendously dangerous. If you go to the area, please watch out for collapsed roofs, dodgy railings and bad […]
Welcome to the glamorous Beelitz-Heilstätten lecture theatre. Despite many years of abandonment, I think this place still has better insulation and seating than most of the lecture theatres I remember from my years at university.
Some photos from an Easter day walk at Tegler See in Berlin.
I’ve been to quite a few abandoned places now. But Beelitz-Heilstätten is definitely the biggest. It’s also one of the most remote as there’s not a lot else in the area. I think the size and remoteness has resulted in a lot less vandalism and graffiti inside the buildings. There were some interesting creations though, […]
The “Beast of Beelitz” killed a total of five women, and had a propensity to steal pink lingerie.
These are photos of an old, but once very grand bathroom in Beelitz-Heilstätten, the former military hospital I went to recently.
Need a fridge? In the Beelitz area? Well, just head on over to the Beelitz-Heilstätten (the old military hospital I went on a cycling trip to recently).
This was my view during my bike ride home recently. All I could hear was “Come to the light Ryan! Come to the light!”.
I went on a bike trip from Berlin to Beelitz-Heilstätten, an abandoned military hospital where Adolf Hitler was unfortunately repaired after having his ball blown off during World War 1.
I got to see some crazy looking drones at the Berlin airshow earlier this year.
Some idiot decided it was a good idea to go test out his new inline skates at 34° C! This was the hottest day of the year so far.
Some more photos I took at the Berlin airshow earlier in the year …
Berlin celebrated 25 years since the Berlin wall fell, by launching 8000 lighted balloons from an 11 km section of where the wall originally lay.
I cycled up the fierce Teufelsberg mountain in Berlin last night.
This crazy looking aircraft is the Eurofighter. The most advanced fighter jet currently in use publicly within European air forces. I took these pictures at the Berlin airshow earlier in the year.
Here are some more photos of F16’s at the Berlin airshow earlier in the year.
My bedroom back in the 1980’s was adorned with multiple models of the F16 Fighting Falcon, an American fighter jet which capture my imagination after watching the overly cheesy movie Iron Eagle.
I learned a valuable lesson recently. You should never agree to move into a new apartment without seeing it first, no matter how temporary the arrangement may be!
