Korketrekkeren with Boban and Ivelina
I had an absolute blast hooning down Korketrekkeren today with Boban and Ivelina.

Oslo has some stunningly good weather sometimes. Beautiful blue skies during the middle of winter.
Harriet and I, ready to embark on our great arctic adventure into the untouched wilderness of the Tromsø city center.
So, Harriet and I went to Tromsø during the winter. Tromsø is way up in the arctic circle. It apparently snows quite a lot in the arctic circle, who would’ve thought!
Continuing my habit of taking photos of cemeteries covered in snow …
Harriet Geoghegan posing in Tromsø.
We had the biggest snow dump I’ve seen in Dunedin city during 2011. Here are snaps from my camera from that day. Justine and I went to Poppas Pizza’s before going to see some snowboarders and skiers having a lot of fun on the hills.
The locals told me winter was over and there would be no more snow. Then I awoke to see this outside my bedroom winter … (this happened quite a few weeks ago, just took me a while to post it)
I share an office with my two friends Harry and Barney Ponsonby. They’re quite awesome and keep me entertained when not working. I snapped some photos of them on a walk with their master Shay Ponsonby at lunch time.
I normally find cemeteries kinda creepy, but there’s something I find very peaceful about them once there’s a nice dump of snow on them. This is one I stumbled across when I got lost walking home from town one day.
Snapped a photo of a nice bridge near my apartment in Oslo. I often walk over this bridge when taking a detour to the shops.
It’s often hard to see the sun in Oslo, but here is proof it does exist 🙂
Apparently snow is edible! These pigeons were pulling out all sorts of edible delights from within the snow pack. And here I was thinking it was nothing but water! And a bonus photo of a duck 🙂
I went for a wander down the side of the stream near my apartment in Oslo. The sun creeping over the horizon made for a pleasant walk through the snow.
My trusty old Canon S1IS died last year. I’ve been making do with a cruddy piece of junk bottom of the line Canon crapbox since then, so decided that since I’m in an exotic new land and popping shots off constantly that I should upgrade to something better. So today I bought a brand new […]
I went for a walk along the stream near my apartment. The river is starting to freeze over. I wasn’t ballsy enough to go stand on it, but it sure does make sure an idyllic view.
I walked down to the Oslo Opera House (“Operahuset” in Norwegian). The walk to the top was slippery as heck. I should have realised it was a bad idea to walk up there when I had to walk past a sign warning not to walk up there and clamber underneath a chain blocking access. But […]
Chris Laing and I saw a huge avalanche come crashing down off the side of Mount Joffre, or at least I think that’s which mountain it was. I don’t know the area well enough to confirm which exact mountain it was, but it somewhere very near at least. We were in Pearl flat a little […]
I headed to Sognsvann just north of Oslo to go ice skating. It turned out there was way too much snow on the lake for skating, but I had a nice walk around the lake anyway.
I helped organise a social hockey trip to Naseby this winter. We were greeted with an awesome snowy experience on arriving in Naseby, including snow during one of our games! My should was too munted to play, so I refereed it instead.
I went camping on the weekend with Ed Waite and Dave Patchett to Poolburn reservoir. We headed off on Friday evening packing tents, as much cold weather gear as we could find and a set of chains in the back Ed’s trusty Toyota Landcruiser. The road up to lake Poolburn was nicely frozen and easy […]
I went skiing at the Sunshine ski field in the Rocky Mountains twice while living in Calgary. It turns out I’m not very good at skiing 😛
This is a good lesson in why not to trust your elders! Dad and I saw this avalanche above the Hermitage at Mount Cook so we decided to go climb up on it and take some photos. Dad picked me up and dumped me on top of this giant snow ball. I said “Dad, I […]
