Visit from Kerry
My lovely friend Kerry came to visit me in Oslo 🙂 We went to the local ski jump, but were met with a gloriously wonderful array of fog, fog and a little more fog.

Harriet and I, ready to embark on our great arctic adventure into the untouched wilderness of the Tromsø city center.
So I moved to the other side of the planet, and one of the first shops I see is called “Kiwi”!!! So I walk in, expecting to see nothing but Kiwi paraphernalia, sheep, rugby crap, buzzy bees etc. and what do I find? … groceries. Groceries, groceries and a few more groceries. Why do they […]
We had the biggest snow dump I’ve seen in Dunedin city during 2011. Here are snaps from my camera from that day. Justine and I went to Poppas Pizza’s before going to see some snowboarders and skiers having a lot of fun on the hills.
My new friend Liz took me to her favourite hangout “Unholy” in Oslo. Good time had by all.
Skating trip to Frogner stadion in Oslo. The ice surface was super smooth, the temperatures were high and there was more ice than you could possibly imagine (for a rink). A complete lack of fitness and having not skated properly in around nine months left me pretty much dead at the end of my skating […]
I headed to Sognsvann just north of Oslo to go ice skating. It turned out there was way too much snow on the lake for skating, but I had a nice walk around the lake anyway.
Here are some old photos I dredged up from my time in Cumberland apartments.
We made a group trip to the Idaburn dam to find skatable ice. That failed in epic fashion, so we did some team shots including the following super sexy duckface shot! Thanks to Devon Wallace for the photos.
Dave Patchett and I headed to the Lower Manorburn dam for some ice skating on July 10th. The ice was a bit thin in some areas, but we found enough to skate on 🙂
I went camping on the weekend with Ed Waite and Dave Patchett to Poolburn reservoir. We headed off on Friday evening packing tents, as much cold weather gear as we could find and a set of chains in the back Ed’s trusty Toyota Landcruiser. The road up to lake Poolburn was nicely frozen and easy […]
I can still feel the sensation of my shoulder popping out every time I watch this. It makes me feel queasy! Quite cool to have caught it on camera though 🙂 Thanks to Dave for recording and uploading it 🙂 The video was recorded at Poolburn reservoir in New Zealand. The ice was about 15 […]
Great night out with my new flatmate Sushi, Rose, Jordy and Amy.
Some photos from the face of the Poolburn dam. The ice was very thick right beside the dam face due to the shadow it cast.
David Patchett and I went to Idaburn dam for some ice skating.
Some photos of me on Poolburn reservoir. Thanks to Dave Patchett for the camera work 🙂
Anna, Harry and myself road-tripped from Dunedin to Alexandra to do a night skate on the Manorburn dam, then headed to Poolburn reservoir the next morning to skate on mega thick ice at Poolburn reservoir, then finished our journey by travelling through to Lake Tekapo for a hockey tournament between the Killer Keas (our team) […]
The Killer Keas ice hockey team, bronze medalists in the Dunedin Ice Hockey League Autumn season. Thanks to Jaydee Cabral for providing the photo and Anna Craw for taking it.
Bode and Susan kidnapped me and dragged me off to the dump, followed by a trip to the local female factory (didn’t find anything that suited my tastes) then took me to Cascade Brewery in Hobart Australia for a beer.
I gave a presentation to a group of Dunedin business and IT people about PixoPoint. The event was kindly organised by the Distiller. Thanks to Dan Bregmen of Jism Unlimited for the photos.
Sarah and I headed to Queenstown for the weekend. Here are some photos of us at the top of the Gondola.
I travelled to Brighton in Southern England to visit my friend Kerry Perkins. There were lots of lobster coloured people on the beach, er stones. Nice place, but I’d recommend avoiding the fish ‘n’ chips, they’re a little nasty. Below is a nice photo taken from the Brighton pier at sunset. After hanging out in […]
I’m not going to go into the details here, but we almost got kidnapped on entering Palestine. After that, I wasn’t particularly interested in taking out my camera to take photos. Thankfully Vicki Argyle took some photos of our visit. Since things were a little stressed during our trip, we didn’t do anything beyond taking […]
Someone complained that I don’t post enough photos of people! The reason I don’t normally post photos of people is because I’m not very good at taking them and I often never get around to asking permission. To keep my readers happy, here are some photos from Israel containing real live human beings 🙂 This […]
Thanks to Dars for the photos 🙂
Thanks to Abby for the excellent video work. I’m number 98 with the black helmet and white gloves. Download Aardwolfs vs Jurassics video | Download Aardwolfs vs Albury video
I joined the Aardwolfs Ice Hockey Club for their Southern Migration tour. Here are some photos of me from the trip.
Anna with me in the penguin outfit.
I was dressed in a Yellow Eyed Penguin suit as the mascot for the World Friendship Ice Hockey Games. There were teams from USA, Canada, Australia, Korea and New Zealand. The suit was ridiculously hot inside and skating became more of a sliding waddle 😛 The kids seemed to enjoy it though and none of […]
Natasha came round to visit. She let me wear her lip pucker-upper 🙂 And Dars took this photo of us.
There was a whole fleet of Dunedinites on the Manorburn dam. Here’s some pics of a few of us.
After some wickedly cold temperatures in Alexandra, I took Sarah, Jane and Kara through to Alexandra to go skating on the Manorburn dam. This was the first time I’d skated on it since I was about 12! Stu McLennan has kindly lent me the former Matt Mobile while he’s away in Australia which we used […]
We had another Brooker Bunch group photo done. This time was by a professional photographer and will be used in advertising for Sally’s inaugural professorial lecture. As you can tell, I’m not a big fan of having my photo taken 🙁 EDIT: Here is another group photo I found that needed adding.
Well, we didn’t exactly set the league alight, but we had lots of fun and fought our way galiantly to last place in the Autumn 2007 Dunedin Ice Hockey League B-grade. Here are some photos taken by Joe Sales of my team the Bears. Thanks to Joe for letting me post them here. I’m the […]
I played for the Dunedin Beasts in the Easton Cup. I also dragged our superstar ring-in Jenel Bode to play with us 🙂 Unfortunately she got injured and only played one and a bit games 🙁 We got totally thumped in every game. Was lots of fun though and I can’t wait for the rest […]
We’ve had quite a few visitors to the Brooker Bunch research group recently including Jane Nelson and Grace Morgan. This photo was taken facing away from the University of Otago Chemistry Department. From left: Jane Nelson, Grace Morgan, Humphrey Feltam, Ryan Hellyer, Jonathan Kitchen, Andy Noble, Owen Clements, Sally Brooker, Nick White and Scott Cameron.
Jon Kitchen and I took Kelly Kilpin on a whirl wind site seeing tour of the Catlins while she was here for Len Stock 2007. Getting Kelly to let me take her photo was a tad hazardous! Good time had by all and lots of pretty scenery was viewed on route.
Some photos I took (well apart from the one of myself) of Dunedin recently.
Jon and I took our new Research Fellow down to the Catlins for some site seeing.
Here’s a photo of the Brooker Bunch, the research group (which I’m a member of) of Prof. Sally Brooker. From left: Jason Price, Nick White, Andy Noble, Sally Brooker, Jon Kitchen and Ryan Hellyer (me).
We had yummy Chinese at the Golden Sun for Yvette’s birthday. We had a strange dish which had strange black thingies which made your mouth go numb when you ate them. If you know what those black thingies are called, please let me know in the comments as I’d love to try them again some […]
I had a key party at my flat in Calgary.
Lake Louise is a spectacular area in the Rocky Mountains. From above, the water is an unbelievable blue colour.
I’m back playing inline hockey again! I’ve joined the Calgary Phantoms 🙂
Bode and I at the University of Calgary.
I played in a social outdoor ice hockey tournament in Tuscany, Calgary with some guys I met at the Olympic Oval a while back. The event was great, ice wasn’t the best as a chinook (easterly wind) was blowing through, but it was a heap of fun and I hope to compete in an event […]
For Christmas, my friend Mike Boyle took me ice skating in the Rocky Mountains 🙂 The weather was great, well as great as minus 20 degrees can be, and there was HEAPS of ice. Unfortunately there was a tad too much snow to make skating viable. [MEDIA=23]
